TRAUMA INFORMED YOGA TRAINING 2015
This powerful group of devoted students showed up ready and willing to roll up their sleeves. This training we met some experienced yoga teachers, some aspiring yoga teachers as well as first time yoga practitioners. We heard from powerful speakers about how yoga can be leveraged to bring healing to communities that need it, to incarcerated settings and to victims of child sex trafficking. Our amazing UpRising Yoga teachers anchored the training by sharing their experiences, leading yoga classes and facilitating discussions and sharing lavender essence (we love you DeJur!). Our beautiful students from our regular Wilmington class came to learn and participate. And Tandi, the beautiful woman shining in the backbend pic in juvenile hall, started her journey to become a 200 hour RYT this weekend, along with Rubi, Ursula, Mia and Mary Lou, Nick and myself. And our friends from Bikram Yoga University Village are ready to start an UpRising Yoga chapter in the desert! We had students from Oklahoma, New York, Missouri, San Diego, Orange County, San Bernardino and more! Social workers, a foster parent, massage therapist, educators and a fire fighter were some of the professionals taking this work further. Such an impressive, engaged group! This was the best training yet. Our volunteers, our gracious hosts at SBCC-Thrive, Laurie Searle, the UpRising Yoga Teachers, the UpRising Yoga Board, especially the Phenomenal Women Trio of Colleen Mooney, Rajashree Choudhury and Betsy Ha, the incomparable Jorja Leap, D'Lita Miller, the Probation Department and my husband Nick all conspired to make a special work of love so meaningful. There are no words, only feelings: honored, blessed, grateful and pure generous love. Namaste, Jill Ippolito
