Thanks to all of those joining us to start the new year with a cause so deeply important and relevant. We are doing our part to raise awareness, along with Bikram Yoga University Village, and to raise funds for UpRising Yoga Life Skills that is providing trauma informed yoga to commercially sexually trafficked children, incarcerated and foster youth as well as establishing communities for healing. Joining forces of strong voices - help us spread the word - YOGA HEALS.

Your 30 day challenge can come in any form; it’s your challenge and your choice. You can choose to do yoga for 30 days. You can choose to run a mile each day, go to 30 concerts in 30 days or share 30 jokes. You can even choose to hug a stranger or two each day for 30 days. It’s really up to you.

We have the capacity to help bring healing into many lives. This is a resolution worth sticking to by extending our love onto kids that need it most. Sometimes that love is shared by contributing to someone who thought the world forgot about them.

There are many ways to combat human trafficking. So stand in solidarity with everyone that fights to bring healing. Your 30 day fundraiser campaign will aid the mission of UpRising Yoga; to bring yoga to incarcerated youth and underserved communities.

UpRising Yoga is dedicated to healing incarcerated youth and underserved communities. Since November 2011 we have been teaching yoga every Tuesday night at Los Angeles County Central Juvenile Hall. While teaching yoga to these youths we have learned that a large percentage of them are forcibly coerced and manipulated into selling their bodies for food or shelter. 
Human trafficking is not an issue that happens only over seas, it happens in our community. When we began URY, in Los Angeles county 82% of foster children are commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC). Because of legal loopholes these children are arrested and charged with the crime of prostitution, even though they are not old enough to give consent for sex. These kids are placed into juvenile hall and group homes. This is where Uprising Yoga provides yoga as a tool to heal trauma.
